Splendours of Egypt | 11 DAYS Previous Next This is the perfect introduction to the highlights of Egypt, combining a stay in Cairo including visits to the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, with a 4-night Nile cruise, taking in the celebrated sights of Upper Egypt including visits to both the East and West Bank to see the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Karnak and the immense Aswan High Dam. Day 1: Arrive Cairo, Egypt Arrive in Cairo where you are met by your JOURNEY  representative and transferred to your hotel with fantastic views of the pyramids. Day 2:Cairo Tour After breakfast, it’s a time to enjoy our sightseeing journey.Visit one of the seven wonders of the world the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx that large statue which is one of the most famous monuments in the whole world. Lunch at a first class restaurant overlooking the Pyramids. After noon visit to Memphis and Sakkara. Transfer to the hotel for an Overnight. Day 3: Egyptian Museum & Islamic Cairo After breakfast we will tour  to old Islamic Cairo and the Egyptian Museum, home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. Arguably the most famous exhibit is the stunning solid gold funerary mask of the boy-King Tutankhamen ..After  lunch  we will explore the great Islamic monuments of Cairo ,Mohamed ali mosque and Sultan Hassan  madrassa and MosqueThis evening we board the overnight sleeper train to Luxor. Overnight – Sleeper train Day 4 Aswan-Kom Ombo-Edfu After breakfast finish the visits of Aswan with the high Dam passing by the old Dam of Aswan. After lunch sail to Kom Ombo. Visit Kom-Ombo Temple. Sail to Edfu & Dinner on board. Arrive Edfu & overnight stay in Edfu on board. Day 5 Edfu-Esna-Luxor After breakfast visit Edfu Temple.Sail to Esna Lock. Cross Esna Lock, sail to Luxor. Overnight stay in Luxor. Day 6 Luxor&Disembarkation Breakfast and disembarkation from the cruiser. Visit West Bank of the Nile including The Valley of Kings, The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El-Bahari and the two colossi of Memnon. Go on with the visits of Karnak & Luxor Temples in the east Bank. After visits you will be transferred to airport to take the flight to Cairo. Overnight stay in Cairo.   Day 7 the West Bank of luxor A.M. Cross the West Bank. Visit the Necropolis of Thebes, and the famous Valley of the Kings, where 64 of Egypt’s Pharaohs had their tombs carved out of solid rock. The temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El-bahari, built Into the sheer Theban cliffs, As well as the Colossi of Memnon.P.M. visit the temple of Karnak and the temple of Luxor. Overnight. Day 8 Luxor – Cairo A.M. Disembarkation after breakfast, rest of the day free at leisure.Transfer to Luxor Train station for an overnight sleeper Train ride with Dinner and Breakfast on board. Day 9 Cairo – Alexandria  Arrival Cairo Train station and transfer to Alexandria by an A/C car or the train. Visit to Alexandria Catacombs, Pompey’s Pillar.Lunch at restaurant over looking the beautiful shore of Alexandria.Afternoon visit Montazah palace and Over Night at the hotel. Day 10 Alexandria  Breakfast at the hotel Visit Quitbey Citadel & Greco-Roman Museum This 21 rooms museum contain about 40,000 valuable relics dating from as early as the 3rd century B.C Lunch at a Seafood restaurant over looking the eastern portTransfer to Cairo By an A/C car, and over night. Day 11 Alexandria -Cairo Pick up from the hotel. Day 2:Pyramids & Saqqara Despite the fame of the Giza Pyramids, Saqqara is one of several other notable necropolis sites near Cairo that offer impressive sights and hold great archaeological significance. In fact, Saqqara may hold more interest to archaeologists than Giza. The huge site hosts burials dating from before the beginning of the Old Kingdom up through the Greek Period of Egyptian history. The most famous structure by far at Saqqara is Djoser’s Step Pyramid. Dating from the 3rd dynasty (2667—2448 BC), it was the first all-stone complex ever built on earth. It also displays an important architectural innovation for the construction of the Giza Pyramids and other later pyramids in the 4th dynasty and later. This evening there is an optional of a sound and light show at karnak temples. Overnight – Luxor Day 5  Karnak Temple Luxor – Sharm El Sheikh. This morning we visit the mighty temple of Karnak, a spectacular temple on a gigantic scale, which is dedicated to the Theban gods. This afternoon board a flight to the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh. Overnight – Sharm el Sheikh Day 6-8 Sharm el Sheikh   Spend the next 3 days relaxing in beautiful Sharm El Sheikh. Soak up the sun on the beach and perhaps try a spot of diving or snorkeling to check out the amazing reefs – Sharm El Sheikh is one of the world’s premier diving destinations. There are plenty of pursuits on offer here, such as windsurfing, kayaking, golfing and a casino! A hotsof bars and restaurants aplenty, will keep you entertained in the evenings. Overnight – Sharm el Sheikh   Day9 Cairo Sharm El Sheikh – Cairo. Enjoy your last morning at leisure in Sharm, before we catch the afternoon flight back to Cairo.
